Here’s the group of fantastic and enthusiastic people that will make your camp experience one to remember!

Jonny Lashyn

Jonny Lashyn

Camp Director

My name is Jonathan Lashyn but people often call me Jonny or Jon.

I was born & raised in Saskatoon, SK and was homeschooled from grades two through twelve. Growing up I was involved as an Altar Server at St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, took part in ConQuest (a city-wide Catholic boys’ club) for many years, played violin/piano/guitar, and loved being active in sports, especially hockey. I played Midget AAA hockey with the Saskatoon Contacts, Junior A with the Camrose Kodiaks, and NCAA Division 1 at Merrimack College just north of Boston. Faith has always been important to me and I’ve been blessed to have had the privilege of being a ConQuest leader in Saskatoon, a presenter/instructor at Confirmation classes in Camrose, and involved with “Campus Ministry” while at college in the States.

I’ve heard from many about the great experiences they’ve had and the memories they’ve made at St. Michael’s Camp. I’m looking forward to being part of the team as “Camp Director”, sharing faith, fun and fellowship with all who participate!

Sister Janet

Sister Janet

Spiritual Advisor - Youth Camp

“Sr. Janet’s first year teaching at camp was in 1990 and boasts this Camp to be her favourite. Give or take a few years, she has come back every year. Why? There is something special about St. Michael’s...it feels like coming home. So many memories and friendships, so many adventures and challenges. This Camp is a living example of community, love and faithfulness. Of course she loves the children, the lake, the bonfires and yes even the mosquitoes. Everyone knows Sr.J’s favourite color is Neon Green, “Ah, shucks” and every year is her favourite memory!”

Camp Counsellor

I am seventeen and a third generation St. Michael’s camper. I have been attending camp every summer since I was eight years old. Being outdoors and having the opportunity to go to the lake almost every day sums up my ideal summer. During the school year I participate in my school`s choir and vocal jazz group. When I am not in school I am either dancing, playing piano or joining in my youth group`s activities. Can`t wait to see you all at camp!

Camp Counsellor

My name is Kathryn Derenisky. I am currently a grade twelve student at Archbishop M. C. O’Neill Catholic High School in Regina. My favourite classes are Math and English. In the fall, I will be entering the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. I have been a counsellor at St. Mike’s for the past three summers! I can’t think of a better way to spend my summer than with the amazing staff and campers that are a part of the St. Mike’s family. My favourite camp memory is making Paska with Rose and the campers in the kitchen! My favourite hobbies are reading, bike riding, and cooking. My all time favourite ice cream flavour is coconut, but I love trying new flavours. I am so looking forward to meeting all of the campers (old and new) and making more memories that will last a lifetime!
